Institute for Co-operative Studies (BCICS). MacPherson, the
Institute's director, has studied and been involved in co-ops
for nearly thirty-five years. He is internationally renowned
for his extensive knowledge of historical and current co-operative
movements, and recognised for his commitment to the promotion

Four
New Courses in Co-operative Management Announced for UVic's
Continuing Studies Programme |

On 16 October in the University of Victoria
Student Society's Michele Pujol Room, Minister for Community
Development, Co-operatives, and Volunteers Jenny Kwan announced
her support and Provincial government funding for the development
of four courses in Co-operative Management. The courses, to
be offered through UVic's Division of Continuing Studies,
are slated to begin September 2001 and will be available on

A team of four BCICS researchers traveled
this summer to Sointula, situated on beautiful Malcolm Island
north east of Alert Bay. Home of the province's oldest extant
consumer co-op, Sointula is one of the Coastal communities
hit hardest by the drastic changes to the fishing and forest

(NASCO) conference in Ann Arbor, Michigan 4-5 November, 2000.
They took from the conference a tremendous amount of information
