Soaring Sisters: A Co-op to Create Opportunities for Cape Breton Women
Soaring Sisters Enterprises Co-operative is a Women's Co-operative whose mandate is to provide greater opportunity for all women in Cape Breton to partake in the social, public, and private economies. They operate a catering business, a canteen at the Gaelic College in Baddeck, provide Administrative Services to businesses, and deliver a certified communication program, titled Smart Talk. They have only been in operation since Aug. 2000, yet have already learned a great deal through their experiences.

Eileen MacNeil, one member of the co-op says "our biggest challenge is to find some operational money so we can hire one of our members as a full-time manager to help us develop the business side of the organization. We all [need other jobs] to support us besides Soaring Sisters." Soaring Sisters welcomes inquiries about their co-op. To contact: Phone 902.794.4825, or Email: islandpride@ns.sympatico.ca.
