The British Columbia Institute of Co-operative Studies has now completed the Dr. Suren Saxena Library Online, the second online Co-operative Studies library in Canada, behind Saskatchewan. In establishing the project, BCICS enlisted the help of a professional librarian to establish the library’s classification system. Items are assigned a call number which represent the type, content, and geographic location of the item’s content. Items are then entered into our database along with a list of keywords to allow researchers to easily search for specific information on many topics. To search the library, direct your browser to http://bcics.uvic.ca/saxena_library. Then simply type a keyword into the search field, write down the call numbers and head to BCICS to check out the items.

Since its formation in 2000, BCICS has benefited from advice and gifts of books from the Centre for the Study of Co-operatives at the University of Saskatchewan. The latest “gift” is nine boxes of over 100 books for our library. Thank you Saskatchewan!
