Overview
The Second Annual Building Co-operative Futures Youth
Conference will bring together youth (ages 18-25 roughly) who are
interested in co-operative organisations and the possibilities they
offer to young people. There will be a sharing of knowledge about
the co-op model and the values that guide co-ops and credit unions.
There will be information on career, volunteer, community and educational
opportunities available in the co-op sector.
The conference will be hosted by the Rural Education and Development
Association (REDA) at the University of Calgary in Calgary,
Alberta Canada, from May 14 to 18, 2004. The conference
program will include Workshops (developing co-op
skills and knowledge); True Stories (case studies
of co-operatives); Breakout Sessions (group activities),
and a Field Trip.
Members of the co-op sector will be involved as Participants
(youth involved in all conference activities); Presenters
(will lead the workshops, true stories and breakout sessions), and
Partners (will provide monetary support).
The forum is largely organised and run by youth involved in the
co-op sector, including a planning committee with representatives
from Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
